Current Obsession: N.Flying – Heartbreak

 photo nflyingawesome.jpg

Meet the newest band from FNC Entertainment, N.Flying, who after years and years of waiting, finally made their debut with the mini-album “Awesome” a few weeks ago. Give how long I’ve waited for these four boys to join the ranks of their fellow mainstream Kpop artists, they’re more like a longtime obsession. Then again, I love all the FNC artists, and this song makes my heart break.

Current Obsession: Xia Junsu – Flower

 photo Junsu-Flower-05.jpg

Seven months really is too long a time, but here we are in 2015 with yet another Current Obsession. This week, we’ll be taking a closer look at Xia Junsu’s “Flower,” the title track for the singer’s third full-length album recently released on March 3, 2015.

I kid you not when I say that I’ve had this song on repeat for days on end—but what can I say? The melody is addictive, and the song is just that good.

Current Obsession: Royal Pirates: Seoul Hillbilly

 photo royalpirates1.jpg

How time flies: after a two-month hiatus, we’re back with more Current Obsession. This week, we’ll take a look at one of my favorite bands Royal Pirates, who recently dropped their latest single “Seoul Hillbilly, ” which will get you rockin’ and dancin’ until the day’s end and long into the night. If there was ever a band that had to stay on the grind for years to achieve the kind of success in the Korean music industry now, this trio would win that battle hands down. They’re one of the great examples that showcase how hard work, a sense of integrity, and a genuine love for the music can make a dream into reality.

Current Obsession: ZE:A First Homme

 photo zea580.jpg

Of the numerous June comebacks, ZE:A’s newest mini-album “First Homme,” caught my eye (and ears) unexpectedly this week. Catchy and exciting, the title track “Breathe” turned out to be just the song to usher in a new season of greatly anticipated comebacks in the music industry. I’ll be honest and say that the first listen didn’t appeal right away, but I quickly found myself bopping along by the end of the day. And if that doesn’t convince you, then perhaps you’d like to know that the Doctor’s TARDIS makes a cameo in their music video.

Current Obsession: Seo In-gook Mellow Spring

 photo seoingookalbum.jpg

Another delightful song for the ears for this week’s Current Obsession with Seo In-gook’s newest single “Mellow Spring,” which dropped two weeks ago. Nowadays, you might recognize Seo In-gook as an actor before you realize that he started out as a singer. I wouldn’t blame you either, why with all the movies and dramas he’s been in, but it’s nice to know that the singer himself likes to remind everyone that he can hum a tune or two.  And oh so wonderfully, at that.

Current Obsession: INFINITE Last Romeo

 photo infiniteromeo2.jpg

Considering my closeted long-term adoration for INFINITE, this week’s Current Obsession post is long overdue. There are times as a fangirl when you actually wait weeks for a single to drop, and never had my anticipation been greater than for this particular song. Um, ombre blue and neon orange hair notwithstanding. It’s barely been a week since the group’s latest title track “Last Romeo” from the group’s second full-length album, aptly entitled “Season 2,” has hit the music charts. Needless to say that even if this song doesn’t do it for you (but really, why wouldn’t it?) there are plenty of other genre offerings on the album itself.

Current Obsession: Megan Lee 8dayz

 photo 8dayzmeganlee.jpg

Say hello to the newest kid on the Kpop industry block: Megan Lee, a Korean-American singer-songwriter who recently appeared on the music scene with her debut single “8dayz” a few days ago. Just like the gorgeous spring weather outside, this is one delightfully sweet song whose lyrics carry an encouraging message: every day is a new day. Words that should be echoed more often, methinks.

Current Obsession: Gary Mr. Gae

 photo garymrgae.jpg

For this week, I’ll be jumping back a few months to one of my all-time faves: Kang Gary, whose first-ever solo album “Mr. Gae” dropped in January 2014. Perhaps best known for his regular cast appearance on variety show Running Man,  he is first and foremost a musician and rapper as one-half of the hip-hop duo LeeSsang. Sure I love his witty and suave character on K-variety, but it’s nice to know that one of the most respected people in the music business also gets the love and recognition that comes from one thing: hard work.

Current Obsession: ToHeart Tell Me Why

 photo toheart-tellmewhy.jpg

Next up for our musical pleasure is ToHeart, a collaboration duo between S.M. Entertainment and Woollim Entertainment, who recently released a mini-album together back in March, with a follow-up single in April. I love the idea of unit groups, especially between entertainment agencies, since it feeds my love for dream casting idols in one group. And when you’ve got two voices that blend beautifully together—why yes, I would love these boys to “Tell Me Why” I should let more dreams become reality.
